Tim's advice:

1. “Identify how your organisation’s values have driven the decisions you make in  terms of delivering and designing patient care."

2. “Tell the story of what your goals were, how you sought to achieve those goals, and evidence to show how you have succeeded."

3. “Don’t be afraid to talk about the things that didn’t work - those are important learning points too, and may be invaluable to others looking to emulate your success."

Lisa's Top Tips:

1. “Show how you fit the bigger picture. Even for individual categories, I want to see how you integrate into the wider team — how your role supports colleagues, patients and outcomes beyond your own remit. Standalone brilliance is good; brilliance that lifts everyone around it is what wins."

2. “Back it up with numbers. KPIs matter. If you improved something, quantify it — patient satisfaction, retention, revenue, complaint reduction, whatever's relevant. Great story plus hard evidence is what knocks my socks off; a great story alone just makes us curious."

3. “Be genuine, not generic. We can spot a templated job description a mile off. Don't just tell us what a team member's day-to-day looks like — tell us what happened because they went the extra mile with a patient or spotted something a process alone would have missed: the problem they solved, the trust they earned, the difference it made. Show us the person, not the policy."
